Apple E-book Scheme Sheds Light on Book Pricing Model

The Department of Justice is suing Apple and a handful of big-name publishers over an e-book pricing scheme. According to PCMag.com, the companies conspired in a price fixing strategy to “restore competition to the [e-book] marketplace.” The article states that Amazon has had a monopoly over e-book sales for some time.

John C. Dvorak, a columnist for PCMag.com, made some valid points yesterday regarding flaws in the book pricing model. Read the column here.

This isn’t the first time we’ve commented on the current e-book publishing landscape. After a year, HarperCollins hasn’t lifted its e-book loan cap for libraries.
